How much does it cost to take a charter yacht?
To charter a yacht the charter rate varies by each person and the yacht charter vacation needs or wants. Cost is relative to who is seeking the vacation. However, I can give you some ideas here on what your charter fee could look like.
The charter fee of a luxury yacht charter depends on the following details:
What type of charter yacht?
What kind of luxury yacht vacation?
All-inclusive or plus Advanced Provision Allowance
The yacht size
40Ft to 150ft, plus
Location of the yacht charter
Crew onboard the yacht?
You can get luxury crewed yacht charters, captain only, just a chef, or a bareboat sailing vacation.
What the market is doing?
This will highly impact your Advanced Provision Allowance and an all-inclusive charter because of the cost of fuel, as well as the cost of food and beverages.
What time of year you are going
Holidays are always an increased price and depending on when you head to the Med, you will find summer is at an increased rate. (more below)

Is there a limit on what you can spend on a yacht charter vacation?
No. Your vacation is tailored to your needs and wants.
Is there a LOW and HIGH season for Yacht Charter?
Yes. You will see the High, Medium, and low seasons in the Mediterranean reflected in the price.
Is there a holiday charter fee on Charter Yachts?
Yes, in the USVI and BVI there is an increase of 20-40% during Christmas and New Years’ week charters. No one gives discounts or prorates the week. Many of the larger motor yachts will also require a 10-night charter minimum. Otherwise, fully crewed and inclusive stay the same year-round.
Are there summer rates?
Motor Yachts tend to have an increased rate from May 15th-December 15th.
Greece has a Medium season from May to mid-June and September, the High season is July and August and the Low season is everything else.
All-inclusive, crewed yacht charters, we find typically do not, but many of these end by July and do not start again until November.
Booking ahead will always fall in your favor of booking this year’s price before the rise of the new season’s cost come into play.
Is there a TAX on my yacht charter rate?
Taxes range by destination; here’s a look at some of yachting’s most popular destinations:

Are there additional charter costs?
When you have an all-inclusive luxury crewed yacht charter the charter fee includes fuel, food, beverage, your crew, and the water toys on board the yacht.
It does not include the following.
Crew Gratuity, industry-standard at 15-20% adjusted up or down according to the service you received.
Getting to and from the yacht by taxi/water taxi
Any dockage you request during the week. The yachts will anchor out under the stars.
Anything you choose to eat and drink on land.
If you have very high-end liquor tastes, excessive alcohol consumption ( drinking from 7 am to midnight), or it’s not on the standard ship’s bar menu that would be additional.
Travel/ Trip/ Cancel For Any Reason Insurance
When you have a luxury yacht price plus expenses, you will cover all your food, beverage, and fuel, and when there are water toys you want that the boat does not have onboard, these can be rented and subtracted from your APA.
Can I get my charter costs lower?
Yes, but consider what it’s worth to you…spending a little bit more will go a long way.
Book in the off-season for the following year.
On all-inclusive charters, and crewed yacht charters, book a 6-night charter. This won’t take much, maybe a couple of hundred off, but something to consider. A 6-night charter is prorated. These will have a surcharge on them.
Add a sleep aboard. Most yachts have you board your yacht at noon. You may be able to get on the night before. Sleep boards are often 1/2 the daily rate and get you on the yacht about 5 PM with cocktails and a meal ashore at your expense, but you will leave bright and early the next morning.
You can put in a reasonable offer on the higher-end yachts, when it is coming to last-minute or late in the season.
Look for specials that offer filling in gaps. But you must be prepared to book.
Check for flights. Flying during the week is less expensive.
You could cook and clean for your group, but hire a Captain-Only Charter.
