Booking Your Dream Yacht Charter with Songs In The Sails Yacht Charters

Welcome to Songs In The Sails Yacht Charters, where we guide you through a seamless yacht booking process, tailored to your preferences. Whether you’re dreaming of the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, or an exotic getaway elsewhere, we specialize in delivering unforgettable yacht charter experiences.

Step 1: Your Charter Preferences

Before we dive into the details, let’s start with some essentials to craft your perfect charter experience:

  • Where would you like to go? Popular destinations include the British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Greece, Italy, Croatia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. But if there’s water, there’s a yacht for you—just let us know, and we’ll take care of the rest!
  • When would you like to travel? Dates are important, and certain seasons may impact pricing and availability.
  • What’s your budget? Prices vary depending on the yacht, destination, and season. We can help match you with options that fit your price range.
  • Who’s coming along? Whether it’s a family, couple, corporate group, or special retreat, knowing your group size helps us find the right yacht.
  • Motor yacht or catamaran? Each type offers unique experiences—motor yachts are great for speed and luxury, while catamarans offer stability and ample space.

Step 2: Select Your Yacht

Once we know your preferences, we’ll match you with yachts that align with your vision. We have an extensive portfolio of yachts and close relationships with yacht managers globally, so we’re well-equipped to offer you diverse and vetted options.

Step 3: Secure Your Booking

When you’ve selected a yacht, here’s what the booking process generally looks like:

  1. Hold Your Yacht – We’ll place a hold on your chosen yacht to ensure availability.
  2. Review & Sign the Contract – We’ll send a contract that includes your charter details, which needs signatures from you, the yacht owner, the yacht manager, and me, your charter broker.
  3. Make the Initial Payment – A deposit is required to confirm your booking. Typically, this is 50% of the charter fee, with the final payment due 60 days before the charter begins. If you book over six months in advance, only 25% is due at signing.

NOTE: In the Mediterranean, holds cannot be placed, it is typically first come first serve. We encourage you to move quickly in all areas so you do not lose your favorites. The payment for the Med is also 50% of the boat price now and the final 50% of the boat price, plus APA and VAT due 60 days (2 months) before your charter starts.

Understanding Charter Types: All-Inclusive vs. Plus Expenses

The pricing model depends on the destination and yacht type:

  • Caribbean All-Inclusive Charters: Your rate typically includes meals, beverages, fuel, cruising taxes, crew (Captain and Chef), onboard activities, and water toys. You’ll need to budget separately for gratuity (15-25%), transportation to the yacht, and any additional expenses onshore.
  • Mediterranean “Plus Expenses” Charters: Mediterranean charters follow a different model, where you pay a base rate plus VAT and an APA (Advanced Provision Allowance) to cover operating expenses. APA ranges from 20-40% of the yacht’s price and covers fuel, docking fees, food, and drink preferences. Any unused funds are refundable, or you may be asked to cover extra expenses if your usage exceeds the APA.

Step 4: Customize Your Charter

Three months before departure, we’ll send a Preference Sheet to gather all your requests, from meals and drinks to itinerary preferences. This helps your crew, especially the chef, to prepare for your arrival, creating a fully personalized experience.

Step 5: Finalize with Your Crew

Within two weeks of your charter, we’ll introduce you to your crew, who will review your itinerary and preferences. They’ll ensure every detail is tailored, so all you need to do is arrive and relax.
